The program included in this demonstration, JIGDEMO.EXE, is a modified
working copy of our commercial product JigSoft for Windows. The only
differences are listed below.
1. You can only put together the one puzzle picture
included with the demo. In the retail copy, you can
import many different image types from almost any source,
including scanning in your own pictures of family members
and scenes.
2. You cannot copy and paste images from the clipboard. In the
retail version you can paste in any image in the clipboard into
a jigsoft game.
3. You cannot save a game session. In the retail version you
can save a puzzle that is not complete for future use.

JigSoft Includes Many Features To Make Jigsaw Puzzle Solving Well Suited To Your Computer!
IMPORT PICTURES
JigSoft provides you with a number of pictures to use as puzzle images. The most exciting feature of the JigSoft program is its ability to import bitmap files from many different sources to use as puzzle images. You can use pictures from your favorite CD-ROM collection; download images from the internet, Compuserve, or America-On-Line; create your own images in a paint program; or even scan in your own pictures to create a never-ending source of puzzles. All of the most popular bitmap formats are included. BMP. TGA, TIFF, PCX, JPEG, PCT, and GIF to name a few.
CHOOSE YOUR CUT
JigSoft comes with three customizable levels: beginning, intermediate, or expert. You can choose a random cut in any level and never do the same puzzle twice or determine a particular cut which can be repeated with multiple images. Each level can be further modified to adjust difficulty by increasing or decreasing the pixel snap which is the distance at which a piece will snap into place.
CREATE YOUR CUT
JigSoft has a unique feature which will let you create your own puzzle cut from scratch. You actually create the jigged pattern using your mouse to draw the lines. You can save your cuts and use them with any image.
MULTIPLE WORK AREAS HELP YOU GET ORGANIZED
Just like you would organize the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle on your coffee table, JigSoft provdes separate areas of the computer desktop to organize your pieces. In addition to the main puzzle assembly area, JigSoft give you two additional areas to move like pieces to so that you can can assemble logical chunks of the puzzle and bring those chunks together for the final solving of the puzzle. An easy-to-use point and click interface lets you move individual pieces as well as whole puzzle sections between the work areas. A separate area is provided for an overview of the puzzle image.
AUTOSOLVE HELPS WITH FRUSTRATION
JigSoft has two modes of autosolve to help you solve a particularly difficult puzzle. A point and click cursor option lets you solve the placement of a particular puzzle piece and can be used to get you out of a bind when all else fails. For those who have completely lost the will to continue, JigSoft has a separate autosolve option which will completely solve an unfinished puzzle.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES ADD TO THE ENJOYMENT
In additon to the features already discussed, JigSoft has the following: a timer to keep track of your puzzle solving sessions and allow for competion between two or more puzzle solver working the same puzzle; a zoom feature to let you examine shapes in greater detail; fast scroll bars to get around the extended desktop quickly, quick keys to change desktop and puzzle frame background colors; there's even the ability to change a puzzle image in the middle of solving it!

JigSoft requires Windows 3.1 or later, 4MB of RAM, 4MB of free hard disk space, 256K of video RAM (512K recommended), VGA or higher, and a mouse or other pointing device.

III. INSTALLATION
To install follow the following steps:
1. Dowload the file JIG.EXE
2. Create a new directory and copy the JIG.EXE file
into it.
3. FROM DOS enter the Command "JIG.EXE -d". This will expand
all the files you need to run the demonstration version of
JigSoft. If you do not add the -d the HELP subdirectory will not be created
and HELP will not function.
4. FROM WINDOWS:
1. In FILE MANAGER, SINGLE click on the JIG.EXE file.
2. Now go to the "FILE" menu item select "RUN".
3. JIG.EXE should appear in the command line box.
4. Add a "-d" to the end of the line so it reads: JIG.EXE -d.
5. Select "OK" and the files should be extracted properly.
6. If you do not add the -d the HELP subdirectory will not be created
and HELP will not function.
5. You can run JIGSOFT by double clicking on JIGDEMO.EXE in
File Manager or follow the direction below to create an
icon in Window's PROGRAM MANAGER.
6. In Program Manager you can create a program group and item
if you wish. When you create the item, hit the browse button
and then point it to JIGDEMO.EXE in the directory you copied
the software to. Enter in the directory in the
"Working Directory" field. After creating the item, the JigSoft
icon will be in the program group. Double click on the icon to start
the program.

try the WINDOWS help system.
